U.S. charts record positive tests in one day.
This past week marked the new record for the number of COVID-19 cases in the United States, topping at 55,220 cases. President Trump has not expressed concerns over the large spike around the country, tying the growth in numbers to the increase of testing. A growing number of young people are testing positive for the virus.
Florida is among the states with highest rates of positive tests at 10,109. Georgia also passed its previous record with 3,472 new cases. Overall, the United States has over 2.7 million confirmed cases of the disease and about 128,000 deaths to date. Though hospitalizations have risen markedly, the death rate has continued to decline.
